New England Results
On July 19 and 20 Hingham Yacht Club hosted the 2014 New England Championship of the International 210 Association, in conjunction with the Richard “Kye” Partridge Memorial Regatta. Many thanks go to our excellent race committee chaired by Ellen Gray and a large staff of volunteers. They did a great job, running five terrific races in light to moderate winds.
Kye Partridge raced his 210, Pear Tree, from Hingham for many years, twice winning the 210 National Championship.
At the end of the racing, only one point separated the winning crew of Stan Kostka, Chris Kostka and Steve Dutcher, from the second place finisher, Mark DeShong. Both of those boats are from the Boston Bay fleet.
DeShong was the winner of the Partridge award, determined after the first three races. Third place went to the Mania team from Hingham, with John Matthews and Kevin Riley co-skippering, and Quentin Walsh as crew.
Rounding out the standings had Cohasset’s Tom Hamilton in fourth, followed by Newport’s Tom Lemaire, the Cohasset team of David Robinson, Mike Dickey, Amory Julian and George Parks, Hingham’s Greg Sullivan and Leo Bowes from South Boston.
