A President’s Welcome
Welcome to the NEW 210 website! Dave Johnson has put a lot of work into this project which will give the class a state of the art homeport on the web. The timing is perfect as we have been selected to be the “One Design Class of the Month” in Sailing World magazine. We will also be featured on Harken’s One Design pages. This new site should drive a lot of inquirys our way.
Lot’s of stuff going on in the class. A brand new season’s opener in Newport the first ever First Chance Regatta will be held May 5 and 6. Launching at Sail Newport and racing along the Newport Harbor waterfront. Saturday’s racing will be followed by a lobster dinner and post race adult beverages for the competitors and their guests. Boats are coming from Gibson Island , Falmouth, Hingham and South Boston.Contact Tom Lemaire for more information.
We have a “Barn Boat” project going on. We have found seven so far. What is a “Barn Boat” you might ask? It is an older boat that has been sitting unused in a barn or garage. It is the perfect way to get new people into the class to discover the fun of 210 sailing with little or no expense. Classes grow when they have used boats for available. We’ve had interest from several areas around the country. Perhaps the rebirth of a local Mass Bay fleet…stay tuned its in the talking stages. Growth from afar. Mickey Lake former secretary of the US Dragon class has joined the 210 class with the purchase of a boat. He also promptly paid his class dues and made a donation to help cover the cost of the new website Thanks Mickey. Mobile Bay is now the southern most outpost of 210 sailing.Mickey says it would be a great place for a mid winter regatta.
Now let’s all work together to make sure that each Eastern fleet has at least one boat at Gull Lake for the Nationals in August!
